ATL Skywalk
Ethnographic Research
During Spring of 2021, our User-Centered Design class partnered with the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in order to help develop solutions that would help bring more traffic to the SkyWalk: a bridge from the parking lot to the airport. This is my team's final presentation which compiles our process: from research and insights to solutions. Our team was tasked to focus on vacationers.
The Problem
ATL spent 55 million dollars on the construction of the SkyWalk, which is a bridge connecting the top parking lot deck with arrivals/departures sections of the airport. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons the travelers and their families continued to use the dangerous and crowded intersection walkway on the ground level instead of walking over it using the SkyWalk.

The Goal
The goal for our group was to thoroughly research a sub-group of travelers - the vacationers - in order to uncover overlooked insights as to why they are not using the SkyWalk. Using those insights, we came up with potential solutions for the airport to increase the flow of people to the bridge.

Responsibilities
This project was done in a team with three other people. I contributed by interviewing vacationers at the ATL, writing survey questions, using design methodologies such as an empathy map to discover insights, and creating mock ups of the solutions.

The Presentation
Below is our final presentation and video we presented to the ATL user research and design team.
